CPx Upgrade 2012
This CPx board is an upgrade for the CPU board installed in the CPU System from 1999 through 2012. This surface mount technology board incorporates a USB for thumb drive or flash drive memory storage of all memory levels and record/playback functionality. Also embedded in this board is the AtoD capability, thus eliminating the need for the optional AtoD board previously used from 2003 to 2012 in the CPU System. This upgrade circuit board is fully backward compatible with the CPU/Input/Output hardware layout, with the exception that it requires the use of potentiometers to read the expression pedal positions. Also required is a software upgrade for the console I/O boards with version date of 8-8-12 or later, the pipe chamber output boards do not require a software update. This console I/O board software update is by either replacement Dallas microprocessors or Atmel surface mount circuit boards that plug in place of the Dallas microprocessors.
Upgrade Instructions:
1. Install CPx card in place of CPU card.
2. Upgrade if necessary console expression pedals to potentiometer interface.
3. Remove optional AtoD card if previously used.
4. Attached potentiometer cables directly to CPx board.
5. Attach fiber optic cables, noting the different order of Tx and Rx on this CPx board.
6. Install software update, 8-8-12 or later, in all console I/O boards.
7. Install and attach to CPx the USB extension cable and connector interface to the organist.
8. Enter Power Up Programming and program entire organ from scratch.
